A brief description of Cast Aluminium Furniture

Cast aluminium furniture is extremely popular in the United States and Germany and it is becoming increasingly popular in the United Kingdom. It has two main advantages over wooden furniture; it is less heavy and therefore more manageable and it is virtually maintenance free. In most cases it is also cheaper to purchase.

High quality aluminium is sand cast in the traditional way and the pieces are welded together to create a single solid piece of furniture. The powder finish is baked on at high temperatures to produce a long-lasting, weatherproof finish.

Why teak furniture?

Teak furniture is all made from Grade A timber and has been sourced from manufacturers that conform with strict government reforestation and sustained yield programming. Solid brass fixings are used on all teak products. All teak furniture comes with a choice of finishing, either a well-sanded natural finish or a teak oiled finish for a more polished appearance.

All of our teak furniture is manufactured from plantation grown wood, Grade A teak is at least 60 years old whilst the standard grade teak is at least 40 years old. It is supplied and certified by the Indonesian Government forestry agency (Perum Perhutani). Grade A teak is the finest quality available and it has a very consistent colouring and grain. Standard grade teak is used in some of the oiled products where uniform colouring is not so important. The wood is kiln dried to 14% moisture content before machining and assembly. This prevents cracking

Teak is a beautiful and durable hardwood with a high natural oil and rubber content. It requires little to no care. Because we use only the finest grade a timber (Tectona Grandis), or well-oiled standard grade timber, your furniture will maintain its strength and attractiveness for decades. The natural ageing process will give the wood a silvery grey patina over time, blending in naturally with the surrounding environment. If you do not wish this to happen to your furniture one or two applications of natural teak oil will help to maintain the original coloring.

Teak timber is one of the most sought after sorts of wood for home and furniture making.

One of the main reasons that teak wood is used in furniture and home repair is its proclivity to weather resistance. The natural oils contained within allow teak lumber to be safety used outdoors (and indoors) without risk of damage. Teak timber can even be safely used with little or no varnish or treatment, although such added protection supplies a longer life for the furniture.

The age of teak lumber, though, makes a difference in the woods ability to maintain itself in inclement weather. Older, more mature teak wood having grown slowly in natural forests, which goes for a very attractive price, is more durable and self-sustaining, whereas the younger teak timber harvested on plantations, not having as many annular rings, is weaker and prone to splitting and warping from water damage.

Aged teak lumber (i.e., teak grown old, not teak wood that has been vegetating for a long period of time) serves as the best wooden material for building.

As for constructing, teak timber, which is very widely known in Indonesia, is commonly used for all kinds of household features from outdoor benches to teak garden planters.

As said, furniture, especially teak lawn furniture, such as lawn chairs, swings, picnic tables and benches, is one major line of supplies typically made from teak timber. Window panes, porch columns, frame beams in old houses, desks, shelving, and dining room tables are examples of indoor creations from teak wood. Teak wood is also frequently used for patchwork where older wood has either rotted, warped from water damage, split from ensuing weakness, wall supports, and even as a substitute for paneling.
